BIO
Mark MOOGALIAN is a French-American singer/songwriter living in Burgundy, France. If you have heard of Mark however, it might be because he was one of several people who thwarted a terrorist attack on the Thalys train back in August, 2015. Clint Eastwood made a movie about it and Mark played himself in the movie. For his role in stopping the attack, Mark was named Chevalier in the Légion D'Honneur by French President François Hollande in 2016.
THE MUSIC
After forming Look Like Bamboo and Javaman, two alternative rock bands, in Richmond, Virginia USA during the 80s, Mark came to France in the early 90s and started focusing on his solo performances, playing at cafés and small clubs in Paris, with a style that is clearly influenced by Syd Barrett, Lou Reed and Robyn Hitchcock, combining solid bricks and mortar acoustic guitar, bluesy vocals and thought-provoking lyrics.
On April 24th, 2006 Mark came across an ad in the French free press concerning a song recording competition for that year's Rock en Seine music festival. Contestants were to put a particular set of French lyrics to music.
"I told myself that if I couldn't win that competition, I would give up music for good. I won.
"
In 2010 Mark MOOGALIAN and his wife Isabelle formed Secret Season and recorded five CDs over ten years. Here is a link to the Secret Season YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCRis2HkzQwgcxWXiTkdXRkg
There are a lot of good songs on those CDs.
Since 2023, Mark has been playing solo shows at local cafés in Burgundy, France, and elsewhere under the stage name MOLLEYMOOEYES.
